February 5, 2026- Thursday- Costa Maya

 Today we did similar to yesterday, got up and went to breakfast and then hurried off the ship. We were running a little behind so we didn't make it to meet up with our tour guide until almost 9:00am. As soon as we did we got into the bus and headed to the Mayan ruins. It was a two and half hour drive. The tour guide was good and told us a little bit about the area as we headed out and then answered any questions we had. On the drive we got to see a number of little towns and one of our church buildings. 

The Mayan sight was amazing. I had no idea how many buildings their were. When we first walked in we saw howler monkeys which the kids were really excited about being able to see in the wild. The tour guide told us a lot of neat things about the Mayan people and showed us where there were sights that were still uncovered. We climbed to the top of the temple. It was amazing how high it was. We then went to another part where there were a number of different buildings one of which was very high and still had some of the original stucco and paint on it. They had then redone some of it to show what it would have looked like.

We then took the two and a half hour drive back to where the ship was. We made it back around 3:00, got back on the ship and went to get pizza, spent some time in the hot tub and then went to dinner.
