February 6, 2026- Friday- Cozumel
Originally we had planned on going snorkeling for a good part of the day, but after Rotan we decided to cancel it. It was neat snorkeling in the Coral Reef, but it was difficult to see where the kids were and to see the fish all at the same time. Everyone enjoyed it but it wasn't our favorite so we decided we could save the money and just cancel snorkeling in Cozumel. I thought it would be fun to just go out and walk and see what we could find and see. It generally worked out well. Just outside the port was a shopping center with a little miniature Mayan temple that you could walk into and see a little museum. The museum was free and had a lot of neat little pieces of information. We then walked out where a man had a macaw and an iguana that he was taking pictures of people with. (We didn't get a picture but we got to see him.) We then decided to go towards the marina where we were originally going to go to see if we could see some wildlife.
We saw a number of little lizards and some fun little birds we also got to see a couple of iguanas so the boys loved that. On our way a group of Americans told us about some cenote's that were up a little way that had a crocodile inside. We went and sure enough we got to see the crocodile and then we walked on further down where it was just the cenote without the crocodile. We were putting our feet in and Michael got a picture of him and I but decided he wanted another one from another angle so he sent Calvin with his phone to the other side of the cenote. On his way over Calvin tripped and Michael's phone went down. None of us were quick enough, I stripped down to my underwear and went in looking for it but realized one that it was quite deep and two that I couldn't see underwater. The water was clear but with my face in the water it was all very fuzzy. We looked for a bit but then decided his phone was history, we couldn't see it anywhere. This put a little bit of a damper on this part of the trip but it was a good learning experience. (Later on Sunday we were learning about repentance and Calvin shared this story, it was a good illustration of that principal.)
After leaving the cenote we walked down a ways to where there was open beach. It was beautiful and the best part about it was that it was just our family on this beautiful beach all on our own. It was very relaxing. We then walked back to the ship where we had plenty of time to get lunch and do a few activities before dinner at night. After dinner we went to a musical called Columbus which was a good little musical. (One timer but funny and good.)
This was a dress I bought in Cozumel. I almost wish I would have bought more. The prices there were great for little trinkets and things. This dress is 100 percent cotton and seems to be of great quality and fits me really well. Maebryn had a full day and took a little nap right before dinner.
